65 Palestinians martyred as Israeli forces continue intermittent air strikes

GAZA:  At least 65 Palestinians including 16 children have been martyred while scores injured in Israeli forces’ intermittent attacks and air strikes on Gaza.

Hamas fired a barrage of rockets at economic hub Tel Aviv in retaliation to Israel’s barbaric air raid that destroyed a tower block in Gaza.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh vowed that “if Israel wants to escalate, we are ready for it.”

The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said at least 65 people were killed, including 16 children, and 700 others wounded in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip, while Hamas has confirmed that one of its commanders lost his life in a strike.

The situation intensified after Israel attacked Al Aqsa Mosque that left almost 700 Palestinians injured.

Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, warned Israel to withdraw all its forces from the mosque compound and the east Jerusalem district of Sheikh Jarrah, where looming evictions of Palestinian families have fuelled angry protests.  AFP
