Dal Khalsa to hoist Sikh flag on August 15 in Amritsar

Amritsar: Dal Khalsa, Sikhs representative organization, has said that it will hold a separate ceremony and hoist the Sikh flag symbolizing Sikh Sovereignty at Amritsar on 15 August when the people of India will be celebrating Indian Independence Day on that day.

According to media reports, Dal Khalsa in a statement issued in Amritsar said that the holding of the ceremony is aimed at reiterating the Sikh community’s commitment towards the goal of Punjab’s independence from Indian yoke, to uphold the sovereign character of the Sikh people and to focus on the decades of the injustice of the Indian state towards Punjabis, Dalits and other minorities and nationalities.

The statement said members and supporters of Dal Khalsa will gather at open ground near Gurdwara Santoksar, Amritsar, to hoist the Sikh flag, recite the Sikh national anthem ‘Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Hai’ and the head of the Dal Khalsa will address to the people spelling out the historical, religio-political and geopolitical rationale for the self-determination of the people of the Punjab.
