Indian Republic Day-Black Day

Qaisar Mansoor

India’s 73rd Republic Day is being marked on 26 January when Indian Constitution came into effect in 1950, which was to make the country a secular state. India portrays herself as champion of human rights, whereas, minorities and non-Hindu communities living in India are persecuted by RSS backed fascist Modi government.

In 2021, three hundred incidents of persecution of minorities have been registered in India. Sikhs have termed India’s Republic Day as “Betrayal Day for Sikhs”. Three Sikh youth organizations Sikh Youth of Punjab (SYP), Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala (SYFB), All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) are ready to organize protest to protest against “constitutional injustices and denials” at Amritsar on 26 January.

Dal Khalsa spokesperson Paramjit Singh Mand has said that 72 years have passed and no government has ever tried to address the constitutional wrongs. On the other hand, Kashmiris are also observing Indian Republic Day as “Black Day”.

Chairman APHC Masarrat Aalam Butt has called for the observance of “Black Day” to impress upon the world to take notice of India’s continued denial of right to self-determination to Kashmiri people. PM Modi-led Indian government has violated all international norms and commitments on the global issue of Jammu Kashmir, scrapping the special status of internationally-acknowledged disputed status of the Jammu Kashmir on 05 August, 2019.

The day is being marked by a civil curfew by the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu while the occupation authorities have suspended internet services in all areas of territory. Kashmiris and their sympathizers are holding anti-India demonstrations and rallies in world capitals to draw the attention of the international community towards the Indian state terrorism in IIOJK.

The day marks complete solidarity with the freedom-loving people of IIOJK in their just and principled struggle for freedom and to achieve their legitimate right to self-determination.

In years 1952, 1953 and 1966, the day was celebrated without any foreign special guest. And this year too, the Narendra Modi government is celebrating the Indian Republic Day without any foreign head of the state in 55 years after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson refused to accept the invitation.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has asked the Modi government to cancel the Republic Day celebrations after refusal of British Premier Boris Johnson to be the chief guest on the occasion.

India not only has differences with Pakistan but it is in conflict with other neighbouring countries as well. The countries including China, Nepal, Bangladesh and Bhutan are not happy with India. Last year, the Indian defence minister inaugurated a road near the border with Nepal and Nepal objected to the road.

Bangladesh is unhappy with India with reference to Assam. There are clashes with China at the Ladakh border. The Disinfo Lab has exposed the false Indian propaganda.
