India’s hand suspected in Gurdwara attack in Kabul

Kabul: On 18 June 2022, terrorists attacked a Sikh Gurdwara namely “Gurudwara Karte Parwan” located in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Two Afghan Sikhs and one security guard were shot dead, while about 10 to 12 Sikhs got injured.

About 30x Sikhs were present in the main prayer hall at the time of terrorist attack and several managed to escape. Guru Garanth Sahib (Holy book of Sikh religion) was also partially damaged during attack.

About 150 Sikhs have been staying in Gurdwara complex since the fall of Ashraf Ghani Govt.

Gurudwaras in Afghanistan remained under attack in the past as well.In March 2020, an attack on Gurdwara resulted in 25 dead and left dozens of injured.

It is significant that about a week ago, Indian Joint Secretary J.P. Singh and Taliban’s Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met in Kabul to reopen diplomatic mission Kabul. Reportedly, the Indian delegation included several under cover intelligence officials who held secret meetings with their old contacts in Kabul.

Some informed sources in Kabul link the terrorist attack on the Gurdwara with the presence of Indian agents there, especially in view of Modi govt’s ill-concealed animus against the Sikhs who successfully defied his farm laws. Web Desk
