Pakistan to highlight Indian human rights abuses in held Kashmir in UN rights body session

Islamabad: UN Human Right Council’s fiftieth session is going on in Geneva from 13 June to 8th July 2022 and Pakistan would highlight the human rights abuses is Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) by Indian government.

Since 1948, UN Security Council has remained seized of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute under the Agenda item “India-Pakistan Question” and passed over a dozen resolutions including UNSCR 38(1948), UNSCR 39(1948), UNSCR 47(1948), UNSCR 51 (1948), UNSCR 80 (1950), UNSCR 91(1951), UNSCR 98(1952), UNSCR 122 (1957) and UNSCR 1172 (1998).  It is evident that India is deliberately committed to defy UN resolutions with regards to peaceful settlement of Kashmir problem, time and again the world community has openly expressed their serious concerns about Indian attitude which has been a source of disturbance to regional peace.

India should understand no amount of oppression and use of force can break the will of the valiant Kashmiri people who are resolutely standing up against India’s state-terrorism in IIOJK and struggling for their inalienable right to self-determination as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The resolutions passed on Kashmir from 1947 to 1957 cannot be termed as recommendatory only. Pakistan continues to adhere to the UN resolutions. These are binding also on India. India in violation of UNSC resolutions in occupied Kashmir, had deployed 900,000 troops to crush the Kashmiri people’s legitimate freedom struggle. It has ripped off the special status of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating articles 370 and 35A. India continues with its design to change the demographic structure of the occupied territory in clear violation of international law, including the 4th Geneva Convention, “India has already issued over 3.4 million fake domicile certificates”. The Security Council has rejected Indian contention that the people of Kashmir have exercised their right of self-determination by participating in the “election” which India has from time to time organized in the held Kashmir.

The international community be made aware of the difference between words and actions of a country which presents itself as world’s largest functioning democracy and a tolerant secular state. The time has come that world must recognize the actual face of a country involved in gross HRVs pursuing Hindutva policy and is set to become a fascist Nazi state. Web Desk
