Srinagar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday slammed the BJP and RSS for attacking J&K’s composite culture and brotherhood among people. Addressing party functionaries on the final day of his two-day visit to Jammu, Rahul claimed that BJP and RSS are creating fear among people.
In his speech on Friday, Rahul, who visited the Vaishno Devi shrine on Thursday, invoked Goddesses Durga, Laxmi and Saraswati. He said, “Ma Durga symbolises power to protect, Laxmi to fulfil one’s desire and Saraswati knowledge.” But “those who call themselves Hindus and pay obeisance at Mata Vaishnodevi shrine and say ‘we are religious people’, themselves try to suppress these powers.”
He said when these “three (divine) powers’’ are in a house or the country, it flourishes. He asked the people: “Did demonetisation and GST increase the power of Ma Laxmi or weaken it?” The new farm laws, he said, hit farmers hard. Did these increase or decrease the power of Ma Durga, he asked. He also asked them whether BJP’s decisions to appoint “RSS people” in all institutions increase or decrease the power of Saraswati.
On the other hand, he asked, when Congress-led UPA brought MGNREGA, or 8 per cent GDP to the country, did it increase or decrease the powers of Ma Durga, Laxmi and Saraswati. India Today
