Thousands of Kashmiris rendered refugees in 33 years

Srinagar: In Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), the unabated Indian state terrorism during the last thirty three years has forced over forty thousand Kashmiris to live outside the territory as refugees.

Due to Indian atrocities against struggling Kashmiris since 1947, over 2.5 million people had taken refuge in AJK, Pakistan and in UK.  India continued to brutalize the defenceless Kashmiris in IIOJK through extra-judicial killings in fake “encounters” and staged “Cordon-and-Search operations”, custodial torture and imposition of collective punishment.

UNHRC, UN Secretary General and world community need to take appropriate action against war crimes including ruthless killings, illegal detentions, molestation of women and destruction of residential houses and property being committed by the Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Muslim majority of IIOJK has been facing threat to its existence and religious identity due to Indian occupation of J&K for the past over seven decades.

Since 1989, more than 95,000 people killed, 22,944 women widowed and 11,255 are molested by brutal Indian forces. These atrocities cannot break the will of the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the inalienable right to self-determination as enshrined in the relevant UNSC Resolutions.

Heavy deployment of Indian forces and massive human rights violations by Indian troops is imminent threat to regional peace and security. There is neither freedom of expression nor freedom of religion in IIOJK. RSS-backed Modi regime is furthering its Hindutva ideology to convert Muslim majority in Kashmir into a minority and convert territory into a Hindu state. Arbitrary detentions, extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances are part of what appears to be an ongoing pattern of serious violations of human rights by Indian forces in IIOJK. Web Desk
