Three years after abrogation of Article 370, Kashmiris continue to live in a state of fear & terror

Sringar: It was three year ago when the Hindu right-wing Hindutva BJP government of Narendra Modi revoked the Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution, depriving Jammu and Kashmir of its special autunomous status it enjoyed since since 1947. This action of fascist BJP government was in utter violation of UN resolutions and relevant international laws,.

Muslim-majority Kashmir’s autonomy was scrapped. The move underlined the  ascendancy of an aggressive Hindutva movement led by BJP which is closely associated with RSS.

The Indian government instituted months of communication blackouts and curfews. Kashmiri Muslims have largely been marginalized by Indian state. It is clear that the security in the valley is deteriorating for Kashmiris who continue to live in fear under the shadow of occupation, which has fueled further alienation and resentment.

Three years after the much-hyped abrogation of Kashmir’s special status, there is an insurgency simmering, economic activity is at halt, and the political agenda remains contentious. Kashmir has not become any less volatile.

Indian action of 5th August 2019 is an assault not only on Kashmiris identity but on the United Nations that had failed to implement the resolutions of its Security Council in providing Kashmiris the right to self-determination. Web Desk
