India’s settler-colonial project plot to erase Muslim IIOJK’s identity

SRINAGAR: India’s settler-colonial project is a sinister agenda aimed at erasing the identity of Muslim in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking with media, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference leadership stated that the Modi regime is systematically paving the way for settler colonialism in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a long-cherished dream of the ruling Hindutva nexus led by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party.

The leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said India’s colonial occupation of IIOJK began when its troops landed in Srinagar on October 27, 1947, and since then, India has treated Kashmir as its colony.

The Modi regime’s illegal move on August 5, 2019, was another step towards colonizing Kashmir, aimed at rendering Kashmiris homeless and depriving them of their identity. To achieve this, the regime has been introducing new laws every now and then to dilute the Muslim majority character of IIOJK. Post-August 5, 2019, the BJP regime introduced many new laws to facilitate the issuance of domiciles and land-owning rights to non-Kashmiri Hindus,” the statement added.

As part of its settler-colonial project, the leaders said, the Modi regime is changing the demography of IIOJK. “Fascist Modi is using Indian business companies and tycoons to expand colonization in Kashmir, replicating the Israeli model to further its settler-colonial agenda. Illegal confiscations and demolition of properties are part of India’s systematic settler colonialism campaign in IIOJK.

Modi’s ultimate aim is to efface Muslim identity and establish Hindu civilization in IIOJK. The Indian regime’s colonial measures in the territory are clear violations of UN resolutions. The global community should wake up to take notice of India’s settler-colonial project in IIOJK and hold it accountable for its crimes against humanity.
