ASI shot dead in Amritsar, SAD leader Majithia attacks Punjab CM

AMRITSAR: An assistant sub-inspector of Punjab was shot dead in Amritsar on Thursday night, officials said.

Police said that ASI Saroop Singh, deployed at Jandiala Guru police station, was killed while travelling along the connecting road from Duburji to Khankot village.

No one has been arrested so far, said reports.

SP Yuvraj Singh, DSP Sucha Singh, and Station House Officer Lovepreet Singh reached the crime scene, and initiated an investigation, the police said.

Former Punjab minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia has slammed the government for the falling law and order situation in the state. “Look at the situation in Punjab…This morning, assailants attacked and fatally shot ASI Saroop Singh, who was stationed at the Jandiala Guru police station, near the Khankot.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been busy organising big events first at Jalandhar, and yesterday in Ludhiana. Meanwhile, incidents of murder, robberies, and dacoities in Punjab have been rising every day. Punjab is now in God’s hands… Have some shame, Bhagwant Mann.”
