Bollywood actress faces police complaint over her ‘Galwan says hi’ remarks

Mumbai: A police complaint has been filed in a police station in Mumbai against Bollywood actress Richa Chadha for her comments on a statement of a top Indian Army official.

Richa Chadha in a tweet had mocked the statement of Indian Army’s Northern Commander, Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, in which he boasted  that Indian Army was ready to execute any orders to occupy Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, Richa reacted to the army Commander’s remarks and wrote on twitter “Galwan says hi.” More than 20 Indian troops were killed and dozens injured in a clash with the Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley in Ladakh in 2020. As per the Indian media, a large area in the Galwan Valley remains under the possession of the Chinese troops since then.

Filmmaker, Ashoke Pandit, has lodged a complaint against the Hindi film actress Richa Chadha over her comment about the 2020 Galwan clash. Since her comments, Chadha has been the target of a massive furor on social media, with the Hindutva members criticizing her act.

Pandit filed a police complaint at a local police station in Mumbai against Richa on Thursday saying that he views her comment as “anti-national”. He also appealed to other members of the film fraternity to come out in public and condemn Richa’s comment.
