Caste hatred: Indian police thrashes Dalit women in Uttar Pradesh

Police in UP thrashes Dalit women

Lucknow: The police in Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) resorted to baton charge a group of protesting Dalit women in Ambedkar Nagar district’s Jalalpur.

According to the details, the policemen also used casteist and sexual slurs against the women protesting over the vandalism of a statue of BR Ambedkar. The Dalits took to street after they found out that statue of BR Amedkar has been defaced with ink by members of upper caste Hindus. Althout Dalits lodged report with the police in the area but no action was taken against upper caste Hindus.

The police action against the Dalit women also drew ire of the SP leaders while Bhim Army Chandra Shekhar Aazad took to twitter to register their protest.
