‘Chun Chun ke Marenge’, says Maharashtra BJP MLA Nitesh Rane to Popular Front of India protestors

Mumbai: Maharashtra BJP MLA Nitesh Rane took to social media and released a statement over the arrests made related to Popular Front of India (PFI).

He said  “all those shouting Pakistan Zindabad slogans in support of PFI in Pune…Chun chun ke marenge”.

The remark was made as video circulated on social media of alleged PFI supporters shouting pro-Pakistan slogans outside a police station in Pune. Pune Deputy Commissioner of Police Sagar Patil, said a criminal complaint had been registered against the protestors for unlawful assembly.

He also said that the raids made by central agencies against the members of PFI are laudable.

“It is necessary to clamp down on agency such as PFI, which is a terrorist organisation that is constantly working against the interests of the country. Today in Pune, some miscreants gave a cry of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and I demand that the police should act strictly against them,” Rane said.

He added, “Today the state is ruled by Hindutva govt and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis. So the police should remember this and make sure that such a thing is not repeated.”

There is a nationwide crackdown on PFI members and the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) too followed suit and conducted raids at 12 places, including Pune and Mumbai, and arrested 20 people related to the PFI.

At least 40 of the protesters were detained Friday as the organisation launched a protest outside the Pune district collectorate against the nationwide crackdown. The Print
