Bengaluru: A Dalit youth committed suicide by hanging himself after he was tied to a tree, severely thrashed and humiliated by upper caste Hindus in Kolar district of the Indian state of Karnataka.
According to the details, four upper caste Hindus tied the Dalit youth, Uday Kiran, of Bevahalli area of the district, to tree by hanging him upside down and stripping him naked for overtaking them on motorcycle. Unable to bear this humiliation, the Dalit youth committed suicide.
The upper caste Hindus involved in the crime were identified as Raju, Shivaraj, Gopalakrishnappa and Munivenkatappa.
The police have registered a case against the perpetrators under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Further investigations are still in progress till the filing of this report.
