Diaspora in UK calls for demonstration against Altaf Shah’s custodial murder

Birmingham: The supporters and allies of Kashmir freedom movement in the UK will hold demonstrations against custodial murder of Altaf Ahmad Shah on Friday.

A statement released by Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK on Wednesday called on allies and supporters of Kashmiri freedom movement to join the demonstration after congregational Friday prayers in Birmingham.

“It is a public call on all freedom and justice loving people to come and protest Indian highhandedness which the fascist regime in New Delhi is inflicting on innocent Kashmiris,” said Fahim Kayani, leader of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK.

He said funeral prayers in absentia will also be held for Shaheed Altaf Ahmad Shah soon after the Namaz concludes.

66-year-old Shah attained martyrdom at a hospital in New Delhi on the night of Oct. 10 where he was under custody of Indian forces. Shah was detained in infamous Tihar jail since 2017 under trumped up charges. Indian fascist authorities could not prove a single charge against Shah and other All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders who are also being illegally detained.

Shah was on-in-law of Kashmiri resistance icon Shaheed Syed Ali Geelani who attained martyrdom last year in September.

He was suffering from renal cancer, diabetes, and other serious ailments but was denied proper medical care.

Shah was shifted to a hospital after public outcry over his health.

Kashmiris in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are fighting illegal Indian rule and are seeking implementation of UN resolutions which grant Kashmiris right to self-determination.

Shaheed Altaf Ahmad Shah was one of pioneering leaders in the APHC upholding the cause of Kashmir’s freedom from Indian occupation. Web Desk
