Equipping Indian police with heavy weaponry belies Modi regime’s normalcy claim in IIOJK

Srinagar: Since illegally revoking the special status of the Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJK) in 2019 by repealing Article-370 of its Constitution, India has been making failed attempts to sell the false narrative of return of normalcy in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The reality is diverse from Indian false claims as the security situation in the occupied territory is getting worse day by day due to the rigid approach of the Indian government. Modi led BJP government claimed that ending the special status of Kashmir will bring development and ending violence in the illegally occupied region.

Equipping Indian Police with heavy weaponry belies Modi regime’s normalcy claim in Indian administered Kashmir. Indian police is going to procure mine-protected vehicles (MPVs), five remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and 18 under-vehicle surveillance systems UVSS in disputed territory.

Although India is claiming that there is normalcy in Indian administered Kashmir to divert the attention of world from grave human rights abuses by Indian forces but at the same time deploying military equipment in Indian administered Kashmir.

India can’t change Kashmir’s disputed status through its military presence. Indian administered Kashmir has become the highest militarized zone in the world as over 1 million Indian troops remain deployed.

India is misleading the international community about the real situation in the territory. India has been seeking to change the demographic structure of the occupied territory in flagrant violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

India has a long history of using falsehood as its state policy and this is not the first time that the Indian government has tried to hoodwink the international community.

Instead of spreading lies and falsehood, India should allow independent fact-finding missions, independent media and rights groups to ascertain the real situation on ground.

India and the world need to realize that enduring peace in South Asia is possible only by resolving the Kashmir issue by granting the people of the Indian administered Kashmir their inalienable right to self-determination as pledged to them in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
