‘Farooq Abdullah pawn of Pakistan’, BJP responds to statement about talks on Kashmir’s future

Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized National Conference President Farooq Abdullah despite being a supporter of India against the wishes of Kashmiri people, for his proposal about Pakistan-India talks on future status of Jammu and Kashmir.

BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh in a statement issued in Srinagr labeled Farooq Abdullah “a pawn in the hands of Pakistan”. He also denounced him for his remarks on absence of some key countries in the India’s G20 meeting in Srinagar, last month.

Tarun Chugh asked Abdullah to not “impede the progress of Jammu and Kashmir”.

“I want to ask Farooq Abdullah what pains you about the holding of an international event in Srinagar after many years? Why should it not be held in Srinagar? Why do you hold animosity towards the beliefs, development, and progress in Jammu and Kashmir? Why do you envy the people’s faith in the [Indian] Prime Minister [Modi]?” Chugh, the BJP representative for Jammu and Kashmir, queried.

Chugh said Farooq Abdullah remains a pawn in the hands of Pakistan.

Two days ago, Farooq Abdullah talking to media persons in Srinagar, had said that the situation in Kashmir would not improve till India and Pakistan resolve the future of the territory through dialogue.

Responding to a question whether holding of the G20 meeting in Srinagar would benefit Jammu and Kashmir, he strongly refuted the notion by saying that it cannot happen till the two big countries hold dialogue on how to shape the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
