India denies justice to wrongly convicted Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik

Qaisar Mansoor

On 19 May 2022, Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court convicted illegally detained Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik on charges of conspiracy and waging war against the Indian state.

It is necessary to mention that during the first five years of RSS government led by PM Narendra Modi no militancy-related cases against Yasin Malik or his party were filed.

Recently, Illegally detained Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after his health deteriorated at notorious Tihar Jail.

Fascist Modi government’s continuous torture forced him to go on hunger strike. Yasin Malik was kept under solitary confinement in a high-risk cell in false and fabricated cases to defuse the intensity of Kashmir freedom movement.

Yasin Malik is the most powerful and effective voice of Kashmir liberation movement who is being targeted by fascist government, using all barbaric and unlawful tactics to silence him.

International Human Rights organizations, including the UN Secretary-General and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) should take action against India and save Malik’s life.

Pakistan strongly condemned India’s move to implicate Hurriyet leader in two more fictitious cases which have been crafted around incidents that took place more than 30 years ago, terming it a clear attempt to perpetuate the political victimization.

Yasin Malik is also being denied the right to personal appearance in the ongoing trial, in complete contravention of legal and democratic norms. India’s inhuman incarceration, sham trials under fabricated cases, the fallacious conviction and the malfeasant attempts at defiling the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiris for their right to self-determination as “terrorism” is nothing but further corroboration of India’s known credentials of being a serial violator of human rights and usurper of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.

International community should take cognizance of the worst human rights violations and the atrocities being perpetrated by India in IIOJK and ask India to fulfill its obligations under the international humanitarian law.
