Assam: In India, a military convoy was attacked by guerrillas of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) in the Assam State.
An Indian Defense spokesperson told media that the rebels fired around 20 to 30 shots on the military convoy on the Pengeri-Digboi road in Tinsukia district causing no losses or damage. The Indian army also fired on the guerrillas; however, no casualty was reported
The army convoy came under attack by the guerillas at Pengeri-Digboi road in Tinsukia district of the state.
“The army team had moved out for area domination from nearby Company Operating Base as per Standard Operating Procedures. Approximately 20-30 rounds were fired on leading MPV (mine protected vehicle) Cassiper,” the Indian Defense spokesperson told media men. The Indian army also fired on the Assam liberation guerillas; however, no casualty was reported.

ULFA is an armed separatist organisation operating in the Northeast Indian state of Assam. It seeks to establish an independent sovereign nation state of Assam through an armed struggle. The Government of India banned the organisation in 1990 while the United States Department of State lists it under “other groups of concern.”
