Srinagar: India has been making attempts since long to project a false sense of normalcy in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and change its demography.
Since April 2021, new domicile rules have been adopted and 6 million Indian citizens were issued domicile certificates in the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which was also confirmed by Indian Minister for Culture & Tourism G Kishan Reddy.
India violates Article 2 of the Genocide Convention and Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention which prohibits occupying forces to “transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies”. It also violates 85(4) (a) Additional Protocol I, ICC Statutes Article 8(2) (b) (viii) and 22 (3) (b) of the International Law Commission’s Draft Code of Crimes against the Peace and Security of Mankind. Above all, Indian actions in Kashmir violate the UNSC Resolution No. 446, 452, 465, 476 and 677.
The demographic changes prepare the ground for settlements on the pattern of the Israeli settlements on Palestinian land. Two human rights experts, Fernand de Verennes and Ahmed Shaheed of UNHRC have also expressed grave concerns over the demographic changes being made by BJP-RSS regime in occupied Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), headed by incarcerated Shabbir Ahmad Shah has denounced Modi-led fascist Indian government for hatching one after another conspiracy to deprive the Kashmiris of the places of great Muslim cultural, historical and religious significance. The DFP in a statement took strong exception to the recent assertion of BJP leader and Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Darakhshan Andrabi, wherein she hinted at the grabbing of the land of Eidgah in Srinagar in the name of building a hospital there.
The DFP said, apart from its political significance, Eidgah Srinagar has since long been an epicenter of religious and cultural activities. It termed the construction of a hospital in Eidgah as Modi government’s ploy to grab the precious land. It said that in the name of so-called development, RSS influenced Modi regime was hell bent upon erasing each and every thing from the history that symbolizes Kashmiri Muslims’ political, cultural and religious identity.
RSS-backed Modi government, the DFP said, is encroaching upon the Waqf Board lands and properties, which is also an infringement of the religious affairs of the Muslims. It deplored that the Indian government on one hand talks about the development and building of healthcare facilities in IIOJK while on the other, it is not allowing the Kashmiri diaspora to invest in the health sector in the occupied territory.
