Over 31,000 Australian Sikhs vote for Khalistan Referendum amid India objections

PATIALA: Just a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Patiala, Punjab, a Khalistani flag was found hoisted on an under-construction building at the Mini Sachivalaya Road on Wednesday (22 May).

This building belongs to former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s media advisor Bharat Inder Singh Chahal. A pro-Khalistani slogan was also found written in the city at a different location.

Amarinder Singh’s wife Preneet Kaur is the BJP candidate for Patiala. She is facing a challenge from the Minister in the Bhagwant Mann Cabinet, Dr Balbir Singh, who is the AAP candidate.

The founder of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), Gurpatwant Singh Pannun made the video about this go viral, Dainik Bhaskar reported.

After this, the police took down the flag and also erased the pro-Khalistan slogan written on a bridge connecting the old bus stand. However, a case has not been registered yet.

PM Modi is set to hold a rally in Polo Ground, Patiala on Thursday at 2 pm. A poster in this regard with images of PM Modi and Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar was posted on the state BJP’s official handle.

Punjab is set to vote in the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections on 1 June. This will be PM Modi’s first rally in the state for these elections.
