LIPR celebrates International Peace Day

By Ray White, CEO – LIPR

Peace is the only religion for both – Man and the Universe

London: On this occasion, London Institute of Peace Research is requesting all its subscribers, website visitors, Ambassadors of Peace and LIPR Trustees to step forward and advocate the importance of peace in our lives, cities and countries. Please come forward and say what PEACE means to you and how important it is for people from all walks of life to have peace and harmony around them.

Peace is the bold, courageous and ultimate response to the notion that violence provides any viable solution for the conflicts of our world. Where war destroys and tears apart, peace builds, strengthens and restores. LIPR is open to all suggestions requesting all peace-loving people to come forward and propose new measures to promote peace.

Peace, security and a stable future are the basic needs that people want in the midst of violent conflicts. However, building trust, livelihood, institution and relationship is a complex and long-term endeavour, full of steps forward and back. This is the task of peacebuilding. And we can’t afford not to do it.

Released this month, the 15th edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI) – which  ranks 163 countries and independent territories, reveals a world in which the conflicts and crises that emerged in the past decade have begun to abate, only to be replaced with a new wave of tension and uncertainty as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
