Maqbool Butt remembered on 39th martyrdom anniversary

Srinagar: The people of Jammu and Kashmir are observing today the 39th martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt who had lived for a national cause for his people and ended his life by kissing gallows in Tihar Jail on 11 February 1984.

Mohammad Maqbool Butt, a native of North Kashmir village of Trehgam, is seen as the pioneer of Kashmiri’s armed resistance movement for their very right of freedom.

Terrified Indian didn’t even handover the mortal remains of Butt and buried him in the premises of Tihar Jail. Martyrs like Maqbool Butt are symbols of Kashmiris’ resistance against Indian illegal occupation. They are symbols of courage and freedom.

Maqbool Butt kissed the gallows but refused to bow before Indian hegemony. Maqbool Butt was hanged against all norms of justice and fairness for his leading role in freedom struggle. Martyrs will keep illuminating Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom from Indian yoke.

APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq payed tributes to the frontline leader of the ongoing freedom movement Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Butt and the illustrious son of the soil Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru on their martyrdom anniversaries hailed their sacrifices for the Kashmir cause.

He urged the international community especially world human rights organizations to put pressure on India to return mortal remains of Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru buried in Tihar jail to their families for burial in Kashmir. Kashmiri people will never forget the sacrifices of their martyrs.

India can’t subdue the Kashmiris’ struggle through the barrel of the gun. Kashmiris are ready to face Indian bullets on their chests but will not surrender. Liberation from Indian bondage is the only way to end Kashmiris’ woes.  Tyrant India needs to be taken to task for its crimes in Indian Administered Kashmir.
