Martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz being observed today

Srinagar: The 14th martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz is being observed on Thursday.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference has paid glowing tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz on the occasion of his martyrdom anniversary.

Illegally detained APHC Vice Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in a message from New Delhi’s infamous Tihar jail highlighted the contribution of martyred leader for the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz was martyred on 11 August 2008 when he was leading a march from Srinagar to Muzaffarabad against the economic blockade of the Kashmir Valley by the Hindu fanatics of Jammu. The economic blockade imposed by the extremist Hindu organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was aimed at killing the Kashmiri population by starvation.

India has long been trying to equate the freedom struggle of Kashmir with terrorism to influence the world opinion in its favour and suppress the Kashmiris indigenous movement for right to self-determination.

The sacred blood of the martyrs ignited the candle of freedom in IIOJK against the tyranny and subjugation of the Dogra rulers. India has never been serious in resolving Kashmir issue as it had been using brute force as a strategy to quell the struggle of Kashmiris. Web Desk
