Modi govt disallows Eid prayers at Jamia Masjid, Eidgah IIOJK

Srinagar: The Eid-ul-Azha celebrations continued though the festivity is missing due to anti Muslim policy of Modi regime and Indian military and police siege in Srinagar and other areas in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Modi regime led by BJP-RSS disallowed people to offer Eid-ul-Azha prayers in historical Jamia Masjid and Eidgah in Srinagar and Eidgah in south Kashmir Islamabad.

The authorities locked the main gate of the Jamia Masjid and huge Indian troops, paramilitary and police personnel are seen on roads in Nowhatta and several areas of the city to thwart pro-freedom protests.

Though the social media was also monitored and restricted by Indian authorities and one who highlights any true ground news of IIOJK is arrested under black law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA).

The APHC leadership in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed concern over the disallowing people of offering Eid prayers in the grand mosque of Kashmir valley and Eidgah even on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

They urged the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, to help settle the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

On the other hand, the Anjuman Auqaf in a statement in Srinagar said that this attitude of the authorities towards Muslims is highly regrettable, when Eid prayers are being thwarted at both Eidgah and Jamia Masjid.

This causes great hurt and anguish to the Muslims of Kashmir, as does the prolonged detention of senior APHC leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq since August 2019, who would deliver the soul rendering Eid sermon prior to congregational Eid prayers.

Meanwhile, thousands of Kashmiris including APHC Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Maulvi Bashir Ahmed, Bilal Siddiqi, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahid ul Islam, Rafiq Ahmad Ganai, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Muhammad Yousuf Fahlai, Muhammad Hayat Butt, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Syed Shakeel Yousuf, Ghulam Muhammad Butt, Ameer Hamza, Dr Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri, Abdul Majeed Dar Almadni, Muhammad Sharief Sartaj, Noor Muhammd Fayaz, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Mehrajudin Nanda, Maulvi Sajad, Adv Zahid Ali, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Engineer Rashid, Human rights defender Khurram Parvaiz, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, and journalists Asif Sultan and Fahad Shah, have been facing illegal detentions since over five years in different jails of India and the occupied territory. These detainees are the worst victims of political vendetta by the Modi regime.
