‘Modi regime hurting religious sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims’

Srinagar: Modi led fascist Indian government is severely hurting the religious sentiments of Kashmiri Muslims and is rapidly advancing its nefarious RSS agenda.

Modi led Indian government is using new tactics to arrest prominent Kashmiri religious leaders to stifle their voices and pave way for forcible implementation of Hindutva agenda. In an unprovoked move, Indian law enforcement agencies have started a crackdown against the religious leadership of IIOJK.

In a fresh incident, Indian police have arrested Hurriyat leader, Maulana Sarjan Barkati, in Shopian district. Maulana Barkati’s arrest comes two days after three noted religious leaders, Maulana Abdul Rasheed, Mushtaq Ahmad and Abdul Majeed Dar were arrested and booked under black law.

Freedom of expression was already banned in IIOJK as activists and journalists were being booked under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) and Indian government have arrested religious scholars to stifle their voice. Political activists termed the move as beginning of the Indian design to forcibly seize and occupy prominent religious places as well as Waqf Board lands and properties all across the Indian occupied territory. BJP-led regime has already taken control of Waqf Board.

Arresting religious leaders is a preemptive measure to deprive the Kashmiri masses from any leadership. Kashmiri leadership has continuously been pointing out that BJP was taking into possession all religiously and politically significant places and positions in the Kashmir valley to efface its Muslim identity.

Since 2019, Kashmiri political leadership has been under prolonged detentions, while hundreds of journalists, human rights activists and lawyers have also been put behind bars in IIOJK. Fascist Modi regime snatched special status of the state, it issued domicile certificates to millions of non-Kashmiris, changed land laws to enable outsiders purchase properties in Kashmir, redrew political constituencies in favour of Hindus and also gave voting rights to over 2.5 million non-Kashmiris.

This all is being practiced to change the demography of Kashmir. Despite being condemned and criticized for grave violations of human rights by UNHRC, Amnesty International and other HR organizations India has displayed utter disregard for its obligation to international norms and bindings.
