New Delhi The funds to Muslim Universities in India, Jamia Millia Islamia Delhi and Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh were reduced by almost 15 per cent in 2022-23 budget, in comparison to the previous year, the Indian Ministry of Education stated in response to a question asked by Congress MP T.N. Prathapan.
The details provided by the Indian ministry revealed, Jamia Millia Islamia Delhi witnessed a decline of nearly Rs 68.73 crore with respect to the fund allocation. The varsity’s fund was reduced from Rs 479.83 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 411.10 crore in 2021-22.
The allocation for AMU Aligarh UP was reduced from Rs 1,520.10 crore in 2020-21 to Rs 1,214.63 crore in 2021-22. It marked a decline of nearly Rs 306 crore.
In the case of RSS-BJP ideological university named Banaras Hindu University in UP, the funding was doubled between 2014 and 2022 by Indian government. The allocation for BHU increased from Rs 669.51 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 1,303.01 crore in 2021-22.
Similarly, the funding for Rajiv Gandhi University increased 250% from Rs 39.93 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 102.79 crore in 2021-22. Web Desk
