Islamabad: US President Joe Biden’s statement on Pakistan reflects his views which are divorced from reality. His officials need to brief and update him on safety and security of Pakistan’s nuclear assets which are much superior than many in the world.
Pakistan remains a nation with resilient character which has embraced many difficult times head on and has emerged victorious. Political instability is a relative status which is common to all functioning democracies. Any attempt to breach the system will be handled by nation united with resolve and state will protect its strategic assets with full might.
Any plans to capture or secure (a Western term) will not be tolerated by the nation. Unlike few in the world, Pakistan’s nuclear assets are completely safe and secured under a strict command and control regime. Any apprehension on Pakistan’s nuclear assets falling in wrong hands tantamount to challenging IAEA which has certified the programme.
Pakistan’s planes have never gone airborne with live nukes, nor stolen enriched radio-active material has been selling in open market, neither its nuclear capable missiles have been launched in to her neighbourhood due to poor command and control and never has lost any nuclear grade weapons. Never ever Pakistan has used her nuclear muscle to threaten or harm any nation.
While POTUS declaring Pakistan a dangerous nuclear state is an irresponsible and flawed statement which has damaged the inter-state trust equation further, his usage of word COHESION merits a more serious explanation on part of US. While Pakistan has issued a demarche to US ambassador on irresponsible statement by POTUS, the harsh public response on social media do reflect the national vibe.
If Pakistan is a dangerous nation, why POTUS did not mentioned it in newly unveiled National Security Strategy document… implying the statement has a malintented aim. US has shot herself in the foot and damaged her efforts to create goodwill with Pakistani masses as the nation has shown a united stance on the issue. The perception in Pakistani masses that US has not been able to digest Pakistan’s nuclear Programme has been cemented with this current statement. Web Desk
