6th phase of Khalistan referendum being held in Geneva today

Brussels: The 6th phase of the referendum for Khalistan, an independent Sikh homeland in India, is being held in Geneva today.

The Khalistan referendum is taking place under the supervision of Punjab Referendum Commission.

Despite Indian propaganda, Sikhs in large numbers took part in earlier 5 phases of the referendum. The exercise will also be held in the US, Canada, Australia, and Indian Punjab in coming days. The results of the referendum would be shared with UN and international bodies to create wider consensus on separate Sikh homeland in India.

The massive participation of Sikhs in earlier phases of Khalistan referendum has unnerved India. The BJP-led Indian government tried its best to stop the referendum in the UK but the British government allowed the Sikhs to go ahead with the exercise.

Sikhs have been facing organized persecution at the hands of successive Indian governments. The Khalistan referendum has sent a strong message to India to end discrimination against the Sikhs and New Delhi should be prepared to give the Sikhs their birthright of freedom.

Khalistan referendum is a peaceful, legal and democratic process to know what Sikhs want. Sikh movement seeking to create an independent homeland for Sikhs started right after the partition of Indian sub-continent in 1947.

The Sikhs for Justice, a US-based organization, is spearheading the campaign for the secession of Punjab from India for the creation of Khalistan. ‘Sikhs for Justice’, in its new map of India, has shown not just Punjab but Haryana and Himachal Pradesh as part of Khalistan. Separate Sikh homeland in the name of Khalistan is the dream of every Sikh. Web Desk
