Against kala kanoon: Rahul Gandhi leads Opposition to join farmers’ protest at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi: Agroup of Opposition leaders, led by Rahul Gandhi, joined the farmers’ protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi where they have been camping for weeks to further intensify the agitation against farm laws.

Speaking at the Jantar Mantar protest, Rahul Gandhi said, “Today all Opposition parties have gathered here to extend their support against the ‘kala kanoon’. We want a discussion on Pegasus, but they are not letting it happen. Narendra Modi has intercepted every Indian’s phone.”

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury were also joined by Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut and RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha. TMC, BSP and AAP skipped participating in the Opposition’s protest against the farm laws.

Ahead of marching to Jantar Mantar, leaders of 14 Opposition parties met at the Parliament house at 10 am on Friday where they decided to extend their support to the farmers’ agitation.

The leaders travelled from Parliament at 12.30 pm in a bus and joined the Kisan Sansad at Jantar Mantar where the farmers are holding a parallel Parliament session in protest against the ongoing Monsoon Session.

Leaders of several parties including the Congress, DMK, TMC, NCP, Shiv Sena, RJD, SP, CPIM, AAP, CPI, IUML, RSP, NC and LJD attended the Opposition meeting ahead of the march. The Opposition leaders also discussed their floor strategy in both houses of Parliament during the meeting. India Today
