Another Indian soldier commits suicide in Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi: An Indian soldier committed suicide in Indora city of Himachal Pradesh state. Raghvendra Singh (39), an Indian Army Naik, posted at the military hospital ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at Dhangu under Damtal police station of Indora subdivision. He was serving in Light Air Defence Regiment, military complex, Dhangu. The deceased was on leave and had returned to duty just two days ago.

Meanwhile, after the recent incident of fratricide in the Chhattisgarh state, the Indian Central Reserve Police Force has again asked its formations to check mental and emotional stress among the troops, officials said.

The fresh advisory comes a day after a CRPF soldier killed four of his colleagues and injured several others by spraying bullets on them at a camp in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh. These killings raised the number of deaths to 18 in 13 fratricide incidents since 2018, according to Indian official data. Six of these fatalities have taken place this year in five incidents in the force.

According to official data, a total of 193 suicides have been reported in the CRPF force since 2018, with 52 incidents being registered this year alone. Web Desk
