Jordan Army marks World Interfaith Harmony Week

Amman: The Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army marked the World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW). The ceremony at Prince Hassan College of Islamic Sciences, witnessed the participation of Assistant for Administration and Manpower Brig. Gen. Hassan Annab, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Director of the Jordanian Interfaith Coexistence Research Centre, Father Nabil Haddad, said that the WIHW stems from the Amman message, highlighting its content, notably calling for spreading peace and harmony among peoples.

Pastor Tom Pickens from the US said that interfaith dialogue would enhance respect and diversity.

The annual event was firstly proposed at the UN General Assembly on October 20, 2010, by His Majesty King Abdullah. The WIHW is observed during the first week of February. The Jordan Times
