Around 3 Dalit women raped, 2 murdered every day in India: Indian HR Commission

Islamabad: Dalit are a marginalized community that falls at the bottom of India’s complex caste hierarchy, permitted only to live in a slums.

As per India’s own National HR Commission, every other day, on average three Dalit women are raped and two are murdered every day in India.

In India women eat last as well as the least, the low women are forbidden to on chair in presence of high caste Hindus, they are permitted to sit on the floor.

India is the most dangerous country in the world to be a woman because of the high risk of sexual violence and slave labor.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation released its results in 2018 of a survey of 550 experts on women’s issues, finding India to be the most dangerous nation for sexual violence against women, as well as human trafficking for domestic world, forced labor, forced marriage and sexual slavery, among other reasons.

It was also the most dangerous country in the world for cultural traditions that impact women, the survey found, citing acid attacks, female genital mutilation, child marriage and physical abuse. India was the most dangerous country for women in the same survey seven years ago.

India is the one of the few countries in the world, where s series of high-profile rape cases and the issue of sexual violence is always part of the national agenda.

 As per the report “India has shown utter disregard and disrespect for women, rape, marital rapes, sexual assault and harassment, female infanticide has gone unabated.

According to a research report Modi’s India has to offer nothing expect rape and hunger to India’s 80 million Dalit women, who like their male counterparts languish at the bottom of India’s unbending and harsh caste hierarchy.

“We are victims of violence because we are poor, lower caste and women, so looked down upon by all,” a Dalit woman told researcher Jayshree Mangubhai. “There is no one to help or speak for us. We face more sexual violence because we don’t have any power.”

Dalit women across India have long been victims of sexual violence at the hands of upper caste Hindus; however, they are seen as impure and deprived when it comes to basic amenities for the downtrodden community.

Dalit women who comprise about 16% of India’s female population, face a “triple burden” of gender bias, caste discrimination and economic deprivation. “The Dalit female belongs to the most oppressed group in the world,” says Dr Suraj Yengde, author of Caste Matters. “She is a victim of the cultures, structures and institutions of oppression, both externally and internally. This manifests in perpetual violence against Dalit women.”

The report further said that assaults carried out against Dalit girls are often ignored by police and media in India as Dalits are a marginalized community that falls at the bottom of India’s complex caste hierarchy, permitted only to live in slums.
