Delimitation of Indian Occupied Kashmir is continuation of fascist Modi govt’s post 2019 actions

New Delhi: Delimitation commission constituted by fascist Modi government has proposed six additional assembly seats for the Jammu region and only one more seat for Kashmir. The recommendation is being considered as an “assault on political centrality and supremacy” of Kashmir in J&K’s politics and “part of the series of measures started by BJP-led government from 5th August 2019 to disempower Kashmiris of IIOJK”.

Delimitation in J&K has been a longstanding plan for BJP, and it has often raised the bogey of underrepresentation of the Jammu region. People of IIOJK believe that proposal of the delimitation exercise is part of the BJP’s “dream project” of installing a Hindu chief minister in the Muslim-majority IIOJK. NC vice-president Omar Abdullah said, “The draft recommendation of J&K delimitation commission is unacceptable.

The distribution of newly created assembly constituencies with 6 going to Jammu & only 1 to Kashmir is not justified by the data of the 2011 census”.

Moreover, Mehbooba Mufti said, “The real game plan is to install a government in J&K which will legitimize illegal & unconstitutional decisions of August 2019”. Whereas, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami termed the Delimitation Commission as “divisive and unacceptable”. Senior Congress leader in IIOJK G N Monga also termed the draft proposal as unacceptable which has been done to skew the balance of power.

Delimitation commission has completely ignored the fact mainly to benefit BJP/ RSS government to enable them political altercation of Jammu & Kashmir to legitimize the illegal unanimous action of 2019. The intentions of BJP/ RSS government are clear to manipulate political factors in its favour in total disregard of the aspirations of people of IIOJK and UN resolutions. India has deliberately done the delimitation, so that it can hold and win election to convince the world of its resolution to the democratic values.

The Delimitation Commission was set up in February 2020 after the passage of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill in parliament in August 2019.
