Fake normalcy prevailing in IIOJK: Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar: National Conference President Farooq Abdullah called for a united fight for the restoration of abridged democratic, constitutional rights of the territory

Dr Farooq Abdullah who is considered pro India Kashmiri leader has raised questions on the Indian government claims of normalcy in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.(IIOJK).  He asked the Modi regime whether the abrogation of Articles 370, 35-A has brought normalcy in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir?

Farooq Abdullah while addressing a party convention in Jammu, said, “Has it (normalcy) happened? The situation on ground narrates a different story contrary to what was being claimed. There is no visible sign of things getting better in J&K”.

While criticizing Modi government’s crimes against humanity in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) he said that there are serious apprehensions in masses about the Indian state direct involvement in targeted killings of innocent people in Indian Administered Kashmir, which have brought back the horror of the 90’s”. Today Kashmir is marked by uncertainty.

Families of those killed in targeted killings in Kashmir are demanding answers from the government but there is little explanation from the powers that be. Mr Farooq Abdullah criticized on Indian government baseless tall claims and promises made with the people of Indian Administered Kashmir at the time of stripping off special status of UN declared disputed territory.

He asked Indian government, “Why has unemployment soared in Jammu and Kashmir? Didn’t BJP promise 50,000 jobs for our youth when they were banging the drum for articles 370, 35 A abrogation? Where are those jobs? Why are our educated, skilled and talented youth on the roads?” It is widely believed in Indian Administered Kashmir that unending job search has taken a toll on the mental health of youth.

Now, since outsiders are eligible for jobs here, the employment prospects of our sons and daughters have dwindled further. Even the local sand and mining contracts are going to outsiders. The plight of local marginal wholesalers and traders has also aggravated manifolds.

Many employees have been dropped out of the workforce in power, tunnel building projects in Indian Administered Kashmir. Local businesses in Indian Administered Kashmir are on the verge of closing down, traders are facing penury.

People of Indian Administered Kashmir see no light at the end of the tunnel. All the promises of BJP have been drawn blank, people of Indian Administered Kashmir are facing innumerable challenges in their daily life, and the human abuses perpetrated by Indian occupational forces is the biggest challenge.
