New Delhi: RSS-backed Modi government is using all available resources to turn India into a Hindu state.
Nowadays, India is becoming hotbed of Hindu extremism and its secularist values are diminishing under BJP rule. BJP’s phenomenal rise has always been centered on its hoisting of majoritarian Hindutva flag and exploiting the polarization over Hindu nationalism.
The false façade created by Gandhi/ Nehru got a reality test after rise of the Hindu Nationalist BJP in 2014 & 2019. Partisan attacks on India’s independent political institution have amplified, opposition parties have become extremely wary of defending pluralism and secularism and hatred against minority communities (Muslims, Dalits & Christians) have flared up.
In sharp contrast to its so called secular values, Hindu nationalists argue that Hindu culture defines Indian identity and that minorities need to assimilate by accepting the stricture of this majority culture.
Things have gone uglier in India as there are reports regarding immigration of Muslims to other countries keeping the threat to their life and liberty. State sponsored backings have led to incidents like “Bidar Issue (a city in Kaenatka State)”.
Wherein, a Hindu mob barged into a mosque, offered Puja blatantly and chanted religious slogans. In another incident, Muslim men were tied to a lamppost and publicly flogged on the charges of intruding into a Hindu festival.
The imposition of majority opinion/ values/ culture is explicit in the recent banning of Muslims from offering prayers in public places while Dancing is being encouraged and lauded on social media platform giving strong notion of declining of open choice/ plurality on Indian soil. Web Desk
