Future of Kashmiri students bleak under fascist Modi

Srinagar: January 24 is being marked as the International Day of Education.  The day aims to acknowledge the role education plays in peace and development. But unfortunately, India has deprived Kashmiri students of their right to education even the world observed International Day of Education.

Over 7 decades of Indian illegal occupation has created education paralysis in IIOJK. The inhuman military siege imposed by New Delhi since August 5, 2019 has further deepened education crisis.

Schools, first, remained closed for months together due to the unprecedented military siege and secondly parents were hesitant to send their children to schools for fear of being picked up by occupations troops, affecting students’ education in the territory.

Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement (JKEM), Imtiyaz Wani deplored that the brutalities of Indian forces on children in IIOJK are going on.

Indian forces are inflicting all kinds of atrocities on Kashmiri children. Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism, martyred 95,917 innocent Kashmiris including 7,215 in custody, widowed 22,939, orphaned 107, 855 and molested 11,245 women since January 1989. How can Kashmiri students pay attention to education when they are witnessing killings of their dear ones at the hands of Indian troops on daily basis?

Heavy militarization of the territory affected students psychologically while many students were inflicted serious injuries in brutal actions of Indian troops. Besides, off and on internet suspensions by the authorities have also immensely hit education in IIOJK. Pakistan has already draw attention of (international) community especially UN to plight of children of IIOJK, who remain deprived of their right to education due to continued inhuman military siege and digital holocaust imposed by India”.
