Hindutva agenda in held Kashmir: Delimitation panel signs final order for ‘redrawing’ assembly seats

New Delhi: The Delimitation Commission constituted by Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian regime to redraw the assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in a way to serve the Hindutva-driven agenda in the territory signed the final order on Thursday, a day before its term was to end.

Detailing the number of constituencies and their size, will be submitted to the government after which the order will be issued through a gazette notification.

The commission has proposed increasing the number of seats in IIOJK from 83 to 90. Besides, there are 24 seats in Azad Kashmir that continue to remain vacant.

For the first time, nine seats have been proposed for Scheduled Tribes.

Formed in March 2020, the panel was granted a one-year extension last year.

The panel has Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and the state election commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir as its ex-officio members.

To disempower the Muslim majority population of IIOJK, the panel has also proposed six additional seats for Hindu-dominated Jammu and only one for Muslim majority Kashmir Valley. As of now, the Kashmir division has 46 seats and Jammu division 37. Web Desk
