How Hindu supremacists are tearing India apart

Qaisar Mansoor

Since Modi won his first election, it has become clear that his style of leadership poses an existential threat to India.

To understand how far Modi has bent the system, it’s critical to trace its origins as a reaction against British colonialism and an attempt to create a new, unified nation. The democracy was founded along secular lines that set aside both India’s historical caste system and religious divisions to create a state in which all citizens would hold equal legal standing. India would be equally the home of the low-caste Dalit Hindu, the high-caste Brahmin Hindu, the Buddhist, the Bengali, the Punjabi, the Tamil, the white Englishman who had been born and raised there, the Muslim, the Sikh, or, indeed, the atheist.

BJP/ RSS government has been diligently working on the Hindutva ideology since 2014, RSS Hindutva neo-Nazi ideology was vividly pronounced by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressing a crowd in Indore in 2017, “Whose country is Germany?”, “It is a country of Germans, Britain is a country of Britishers, America is a country of Americans, and in the same way Hindustan is a country of Hindus”. BJP/ RSS has initiated a reign of terror against minorities in India with in different forms including; anti-Christian drive, mob lynching of Muslims cow vigilantism, inhuman social exploitation of Dalits, Islamophobia etc.

Minorities have been bearing the brunt of Hindutva policies throughout India under the current BJP/RSS neo-Nazi government. In continuation to the anti-minorities policies of BJP/RSS government, BJP uses Muslims as the electoral bogeyman to consolidate a culturally diverse and caste-driven Hindu vote base against a common “other,” it makes sense to bang on about Muslim “radicalization” all the same, as a means of Hindu mobilization.

Many of rightists / extremists attacks are now aimed at driving Muslims out of their livelihoods and businesses. While Modi waxes eloquent on global forums on the need for “rational thinking” to counter radicalization, Hindu fanatics linked to his party have been warning salons and shops against hiring Muslim men.

India disrespects International law and international norms and has become a threat to regional peace. Excessive chauvinism and pseudo-pride have engulfed the whole state; thus, India acts irrationally on the global stage and uses disinformation to hide its heinous crimes.

India is facing more than 135 different separatist movements and Indian minorities have been compelled to struggle for separate homelands so they can live peacefully and where their basic human rights are protected. The world/ international community must carefully monitor Modi’s fascist policies if it doesn’t want to be caught unawares, again (Hitler’s expansionist adventure, WW-II). Rising Hindutva terror is becoming a potent threat to the regional peace and security of South Asia.
