Human Rights Day: Pakistan urges world to raise voice for Kashmir, Palestine

Islamabad: Pakistan urged the international community raise voice against human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a call to the world as the International Human Rights Day is being observed today (Saturday).

The Pakistan premier, in his message, said: “Societies whose foundations are built on human rights prosper faster than others. Present global tumult is explained by denial of fundamental rights to oppressed people such as Kashmiris in IIOJK & Palestinians”.

World Human Rights Day (10 December) is being observed internationally to honour UNGA’s adoption and proclamation of human rights on 10th Dec 1948. This particular day also aims to remind the international community that all basic human rights of the people in Indian Administered Kashmir are being violated by Indian authorities.

The unspeakable violence being perpetrated by Hindutva inspired extremist BJP-RSS has turned Indian Administered Kashmir into an inferno where no one, not even innocent civilians, professionals, women, children and elderly are safe from the state-terrorism of Indian occupied forces. Indian troops in their unabated acts of state terrorism, martyred 96,157 innocent Kashmiris including 7,275 in custody, widowed 22,952, orphaned 107,887 and molested 11,256 women since January 1989.

Human Rights Watch report 2022 has completely exposed Indian real face in front of the world community by highlighting the Indian authority’s repressive laws to silence critics by curbing freedom of expression of minorities especially Christians and Muslims. The report expressed concerns over excessive use of force in Kashmir during Cordon and Search Operations, resulting in civilian deaths as well as growing allegations of torture and deaths in custody.

Thousands of Kashmiri citizens are living miserable life in Indian prisons who have been booked without any legal trials. Indian authorities continued to intimidate and harass journalists and news outlets critical of the government through politically motivated lawsuits and tax raids.

Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act was specially mentioned which remained in effect in Jammu and Kashmir and several northeastern states, provides effective immunity from prosecution to security forces, even for serious human rights abuses. International community should take immediate notice of Indian state-sponsored terrorism in the occupied valley and to hold India accountable for the egregious human rights violations of the innocent Kashmiri people.
