India arrest Ahsan Untoo for speaking against human rights violations in IIOJK

Srinagar: Indian Police arrested Mohammad Ahsan Untoo, chairman International Forum for Justice & Human Rights Jammu & Kashmir (IFJHRJK), for raising concerns against human rights violations committed by the Indian army in IOJ&K.

“It was bought to attention that Mohd Ahsan Untoo son of Late Ghulam Hassan Untoo resident of Diver Lolab Kupwara A/P Kursoo Rajbagh, a proactive participant & speaker at Twitter spaces titled “Kashmir” led by other Kashmiris spreading hatred against the Union of India was said in a police statement including, “by spreading false propaganda, disinformation campaign & hate speech through these social media spaces against the Union of India”

It was said the activities by Ahsan Untoo, “amounts to commission of cognizable offence by him so a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the law,” the spokesman of Srinagar Police said adding, “The investigation into the matter has been initiated & accused has been arrested who is on Police remand & further action under law shall follow.”

Before Ahsan Untoo got arrested he got in touch with few organisations working for Kashmir one of them was Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK. He shared his concerns & support was offered to him by social media to alert other organisations & Human Rights Activists to unite to save our on ground Human Rights Activists. Within a day of the social media alert Untoo was arrested.
