India committing grave human rights violations in held Kashmir

Islamabad: Kashmiris are suffering the worst human rights violations at the hands of Indian forces in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

India has turned the occupied territory into the world’s largest militarized zone where killings, custodial torture, arbitrary detentions, destruction of properties and molestation of women have become a norm.

Modi-led India has stepped up its repressive tactics following revocation of IIOJK’s special status on 5 August 2019, the report said and added that 428 Kashmiris have been killed, 2106 injured, 15199 arrested since scrapping of Article 370 by the Modi regime in August, 2019.

Kashmiris are being punished for demanding their inalienable right to self-determination, the report said and cited several independent reports, which have documented massive rights violations by Indian troops in the territory.

Human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are directly connected to decades-old unresolved Kashmir dispute, it maintained. “Peace in South Asia will remain a distant dream if Kashmiris’ plight continues to be ignored,” the report said and urged the global community to stand up and stop India from committing grave rights abuses in IIOJK.
