India must not take Pakistan’s desire for peace as weakness, says official

Islamabad: India should not take Pakistan’s desire for peace as a weakness as country’s armed forces were fully prepared to counter any threat to its sovereignty and integrity, a senior security official said Wednesday.

Pakistan has never been averse to ‘peace’ between two countries but it is BJP that has been bolstering its domestic politics by resorting to saber-rattling. In fact, both political and security establishment have never been at variance over the national interest – consensus has been the hallmark.

Nitpicking and finding fault in conciliatory gesture shown by PM Shahbaz Sharif to lead nowhere. Rather such practice creates unnecessary hiccups in mutual relations of two countries. Pakistan has suffered much in the wake of ‘war on terror’. Hence promoting peace has been its priority.

Pakistani leadership underscores the importance of Good neighborly relations. It is India that sabotaged SAARC by boycotting participation particularly when its 19th summit (2016) was scheduled for being hosted by Pakistan. Even India persuaded a few other member countries of SAARC to echo its decision. Thus SAARC has been rendered inactive/ dormant.

It has been a general practice with political leadership of India that whenever any untoward took place there Pakistan is blamed promptly without investigating the issue. India’s invitation extended to Pakistan’s foreign minister for attending SCD (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) summit scheduled for May 2023 in Goa (India).

Instead of unnecessarily commenting on India’s investigation Pakistan will decide about the participation at right time keeping in view its national interest. Pakistan has always been peoples’ friendly.

Despite irritants with India it went for opening Kartarpur Corridor. Initiative facilitated Sikh population particularly in India for visa free religious pilgrimage. India’s Pakistan hostile attitude goes unbound as now it displays hatred towards Muslims. Persecution of Muslims in India is a case in point here.
