‘India wants to hoodwink world by giving limited permission to Muharram processions in IIOJK’

SRINAGAR: Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami, a constituent of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has termed the Indian authorities’ decision to end the long ban on the main processions of Muharram as a mere pretense and like throwing dust in the eyes of the world.

According to the details, the Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities gave conditional permission to take out the 8th Muharram procession in Srinagar.

He said the representatives of the Shia community, who were negotiating with the Lt Governor’s administration should have refused to accept these unnecessary conditions because by limiting the permission of the processions, India would be able to propagate this at the world level that there is no ban on Muharram processions in Kashmir anymore. The Modi’s Hindutva government will use the so-called permission of Muharram processions for its nefarious designs, he added.

The spokesman said the reality is that India cannot mislead either the freedom-loving Kashmiris or the international community through such so-called actions. He said the Modi government has in fact created another Karbala in occupied Kashmir as it has taken away all the political, social, economic and even religious rights of the Kashmiris and is not allowing the Kashmiri Muslims to offer prayers on Fridays and Eids.

The spokesman said Kashmiris are on the path of Hussainiat and are just asking for their rights, for which Yazid of the time, Modi, is subjecting them to extreme oppression and tyranny. He said the limited permission for Muharram processions has no meaning for the Kashmiris and they will not take rest until India gives them their birthright to self-determination.
