The border disputes with China has been a major bone of contention which is mostly exploited by Indian side to gain political mileage by successive governments and to gain diplomatic support from the West in its China Containment Policy.

After suffering humiliation in Galwan standoff and disproportionate loss at the hands of Chinese troops, India once again attempted to revive the animosity with China by projecting that Chinese troops (PLA) made an incursion into its territory and were effectively repulsed back.

Contrarily, Indian troops have suffered another humiliation at the hand of PLA and many Indian troops have been injured in their standoff with PLA on 9 Dec 2022 in Tawang Sector, Arunachal Pradesh. Historically, Tawang Sector belongs to Tibet and remained part of Chinese mainland since centuries. The area was acceded to India by Tibet in 1914 Shimla Accord with British India.
