Indian doctor in UK guilty of sex offenses against 48 patients

Scotland: A 72 -year -old Indian doctor practicing in Scotland was found guilty of sex offenses against 48 female patients over 35 years old.

Krishna Singh, a general practitioner (GP), was accused of kissing, groping, giving improper examinations and making indecent comments, charges he denied during a trial in the High Court in Glasgow.

The GP insisted that the patient was wrong and some of the examinations were what had been taught during medical training in India.

According to news reports from Scotland, the charges occurred between February 1983 and May 2018 and the offenses occurred mostly in medical practices in North Lanarkshire, but also in hospital accidents and emergency departments, police stations as well as during visits to patients ’homes. .

“The Crown case is that Dr Singh was in the routine of offending women,” prosecutor Angela Gray told the court.

“Sometimes subtle or disguised, sometimes obvious and overt. Sexual offenses are part of his work life,” he said.

Singh is seen as a respected member of society, and was even awarded the honorary Member of the Royal Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his contribution in medical services.

An investigation into his behavior was launched after a woman reported it in 2018.

The doctor was later convicted of 54 charges against the victim, a crime mainly consisting of various sexual assaults and indecency.

He was found unproven on nine other charges and not guilty on two more charges.

The judge hearing the case had adjourned the sentence until next month and allowed Singh to be released on bail on condition of surrendering his passport. Agramartcity.com
