Indian forces accused of committing grave human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir

Srinagar: Indian troops are committing systematic human rights violations with impunity in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on a daily basis.

Human rights abuses by Indian troops have witnessed a massive surge in IIOJK since 5 August 2019, when Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed the special status of the territory.

It maintained that several UN reports have confirmed that India is a violator of human rights in IIOJK while global rights groups have repeatedly raised alarm about worsening human rights situation in the occupied territory.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in its two reports released in 2018 and 2019 has called for independent investigations into serious human rights violations by Indian troops in Kashmir. Recently, a London-based law firm Stoke White filed an application with the British police seeking the arrest of Indian army chief, General Manoj Mukund Naravane and Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah over their roles in war crimes in disputed Jammu and Kashmir.

The law firm said that it submitted extensive evidence based on over 2,000 testimonies taken between 2020 and 2021 to the Metropolitan Police’s War Crimes Unit documenting how Indian troops headed by General Manoj Mukund Naravane and Amit Shah were responsible for the torture, kidnapping and killing of activists, journalists and civilians.

The report pointed out that the BJP-led Indian regime has unleashed a reign of terror against the Kashmiri people and massacres, disappearances, torture and molestations have become a routine in IIOJK, adding that the Modi regime is blatantly violating every human rights principle in IIOJK.

The report maintained that the global powers must demand that India respect its human rights obligations. The worsening situation in IIOJK needs urgent international attention. World community must help end rising rights’ violations in IIOJK. Modi must be held accountable for Indian atrocities on the Kashmiri people,” it added.
