Indian minorities need attention of international community

The fascist Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party government is relentlessly implementing RSS ideology against minorities in India.

International peace and human rights organizations reports have revealed that India’s Hindu extremist government, through RSS has made horrifying life for Muslims, Christians, Dalits, and Sikhs. Bihar has notorious record for crimes against Dalits. In 2021, 139045 incidents against Dalits were filed in various states.

According to United Christian Forum, violence against Christians have geared up in New Delhi, Karnataka, Uttarkhand and Chhattisgadh since 2018, with perpetrators accusing them for forcefully converting Hindus. In year 2021, the number of violent incidents against Christians jumped to 486, while 279 in 2020.

During a congressional briefing in US, Professor Gregory Stanton, founder of Genocide Watch, warned in unambiguous words that a “genocide could very well happen in India”. Professor of human rights law at American University in Washington,  DC. Juan E Mendez, has termed the communal situation in India, “dangerous” and “deeply disturbing”.

International Maithili Council has demanded to add Mathili language to the list of regional languages for job examination to do district level posts. They have threatened to conduct a movement across the state. Across India, dozens of major incidents were reported, few of them are listed below: –

  • In Narpala Mandal, Andhara Pradesh upper caste Hindus stopped Dalits to enter into the temple. They used casteist abuses and threatened them of dire consequences if they dare to enter into the temple.
  • In Jharkhad, a 32-year-old Muslim Zeeshan Khan was thrashed, forced to lick spit, and made to chant “Jai Shri Ram” by BJP workers. He was blamed that he had abused PM Modi at a BJP protest in Dhanbad.
  • In Mysuru district’s Arasinkere village, six Dalits were assaulted by upper caste youth for entering into their locality.
  • In Chittoor, a maid servant Dalit woman, Umama Heswari has been tortured by Police when she was taken into custody for inquiry, which led her to lost consciousness.
  • In Lakimpur, UP, a 17-year-old Dalit boy died in Police custody. He was brutally assaulted by Police over allegations of stealing his Uncle’s cell phone.
  • In Jalore, Rajasthan, two drunken Hindus of upper caste went to the house of a Dalit family and demanded a girl for debauchery. When elderly lady of house refused them, they crushed her to death by trampling her with a pickup car.

Global community must take notice of the plight of minorities in India. “It is high time for international community to act to ensure basic human rights of Indian minorities are protected. World rights bodies must come forward to save the minorities from Hindutva onslaught in India.
