New Delhi: Muslims are once again up in arms about demolition in the name of anti-encroachment campaign as bulldozers rolled into the Shaheen Bagh area of New Delhi in the presence of a huge number of police personnel.
Hundreds of people, including women raised slogans against the BJP-ruled South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) as well as the central government, and demanded that the action be stopped. Some of the women protesters even stood in front of the bulldozers to prevent the exercise.
SDMC’s Central Zone chairman Rajpal Singh said removing encroachments was the obligatory function of any municipality and alleged the protests were “politically motivated”.
It is worth mentioning here that Muslims in India are the prime target of the BJP’s communal government since it came to power in 2014. Web Desk
