Indian claims to be biggest democracy, a secular and pluralist society, which a spires to be a global player on the strength of its huge population and market. However, underneath this glittering and shining Indian image is a cancer of extremist in the form of Hindu supremacy, which does not leave a breathing space for its persecuted minorities.
As things stand, Modi-led Indian Hindu chauvinist government desires to build a gigantic structure of Indian neo liberal capitalist democracy upon the graveyard of minorities. Muslims in Indian are increasingly becoming victim of Hindutva terrorism as they are incorrectly portrayed as “Children of invaders” whose ancestors exploited Hindus for centuries. Muslims are not the only victim of Hindutva terrorism; right-wing Hindu nationalist attacks against Christians are becoming increasingly frequent and are emboldened by a lack of accountability.
According to a report by human rights group, more than 300 attacks on Christian took place in the first nine months of this year. At least nine Indian states have planned anti-conversion laws, including Chhattisgarh, which, activists say has emerged as a “new laboratory” for anti-Christian hatred in India.
Unfortunately, India has become a land of Hindus, where minorities seems to have been completely cornered and ghettoized. Intellectuals around the globe would be guilty of letting Indian minorities suffer in the BJP’s created hell, if they continue to buy Indian nationalist media’s narrative of a rising and shining India. From genocide in Kashmir to suppression of religious minorities, Indian has become an apartheid state where human rights and “equality” have become a far-flug idea. Across India, dozens of major incidents were reported, few of them are listed below: –
- In Churu district, Rajasthan, a 25-year-old Dalit man was allegedly abducted, assaulted, and forced to drink urine by eight men over old animosity.
- In Palampur, a bronze statue of Baba Sahib Ambedkhar is waiting to be unveiled since September 21. District administration is failed to get an appointment from CM Jai Ram Thakur to unveil it. Ambedhar followers are fuming as they have not been able to garland the statue on different occasions. They alleged that the administration doesnot value their sentiments.
- In village housepur Rausen, Sri Krishna Prajapati son of Pardeep Dharmendra and Sudama residents demolished the huts of Dalit family and forcibly started their own construction. Upon protest, all the accused abusing them being Dalit and molest the lady.
Reports reveal that as many as 2,920 communal or caste-based incidents were reported in India between 2013 and 2017, in which 389 people were killed and 8,890 injured, according to the Home Ministry’s data, whose figures are often lower than those collected by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
All the above-mentioned atrocities committed under Modi’s watch beg a description of who Modi really is. He has been an active member of RSS (a militant Hindu organisation which promotes Hindus to the exclusion of all other religious groups in India) since a very young age and was the chief minister of Gujarat, when religious riots resulting in the assassination of more than one thousand Muslims, took place.
Unfortunately, India has become a land of Hindus, where minorities seems to have been completely cornered and ghettoised. Intellectuals around the globe would be guilty of letting Indian minorities suffer in the BJP’s created hell, if they continue to buy Indian nationalist media’s narrative of a rising and shining India. It is, therefore, a high time to show the world the hell Modi- led BJP has transformed India into.
